DownloadColloidal silica is an alternative to various products for modifying the surface properties of films (waxes, silicone additives) without the risk of negative side effects.
The main benefits of using colloidal silica in coating products:
– improving the mechanical properties (abrasion resistance, hardness, scratch resistance, increases adhesion) without changing the gloss (or transparency) and without creating problems when repainting, for varnishes with various applications (furniture, parquet, wood, etc.). Being a nanoproduct, it is easily impregnated in the substrate.
– anti-fouling effect in decorative paints/plasters (being a nano-product, it quickly migrates to the surface of the film, forming a hard layer which, after hardening, allows the uniform flow of water on the surface of the paint film, entraining the particles of dust, dirt, etc. traces will remain when the water flows on the wall)
-increases the open-time (workability duration) without reducing the surface tension, drying time or negatively influencing other properties of the film. In this way, the amount of coalescent or drying agent can be reduced.
– improves adhesion to the substrate
Adding it to the paint is very easy and does not require special operations (in varnishes or paints with low PVC it is added together with the resin and in decorative paints/plasters at the end).
